Nipomo, California – August 5, 2007 Historian Paula Carr will be the featured speaker in the Dana Adobe Saturday Talk Series at 1:00 p.m. this Saturday August 11. Ms. Carr will share some of her ongoing research into an intriguing period in history from 1850 to 1875 when adobe construction was gradually eclipsed by wood frame construction. “During the transition period,” states Ms. Carr, “ a number of Yankees, including William G. Dana, lived and worked in adobes that revealed a blend of Hispanic and Yankee architectural building traditions.”
The Talk is free to public and and docent tours of the Dana Adobe are available from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Visitors are invited to enjoy the outdoor lecture on the shaded porch overlooking the Temattate Ridge. The Adobe is located at 671 South Oakglen Avenue. For information and directions, call 929-5679, or visit www.danaadobe.org.
