Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos Launches Membership Drive

Nipomo, California – April 24, 2006 – Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos (D.A.N.A.) announced today that it is launching a major membership drive with a goal of signing up 500 new members by the end of 2006. The campaign targets primarily South County residents and is geared toward expanding community support for maintenance and restoration of the historic Dana Adobe as well as the creation of Rancho Nipomo Historical Park. D.A.N.A. will initiate the campaign with a mailer to South County residents beginning in late April.
“The Rancho Nipomo Dana Adobe is a community treasure,” said Herb Kandel, president of the D.A.N.A. board of directors. “Once people learn about the adobe’s exciting past and today’s educational and entertaining programs — like Rancho Nipomo Heritage Day, which is coming up May 20 — we believe they’ll want to join with us to protect these treasures and preserve the beauty of the historic Rancho Nipomo landscape.”
According to D.A.N.A. membership director Barbara Barber, broad-based community support is essential to keeping current programs running and advancing the vision of a living history park. “Membership dues help fund many facets of our operations. These include historical, educational, and family programs as well as our Discover the Rancho elementary school program, docent-led tours, restoration and maintenance, and archaeological exploration.”
D.A.N.A. is asking local residents to watch for the mailer and return the completed membership form by mail (P.O. Box 729, Nipomo, CA 93444-0729) or fax (805-929-5473). People can also join by calling the Dana Adobe at 805-929-5679 or by stopping by the membership booth at Rancho Nipomo Heritage Day on Saturday, May 20, at the Dana Adobe, 671 South Oakglen Avenue in Nipomo. Membership dues may be paid by cash, check or credit card.
