Summer '08 Saturday Talks!      All talks and activities take place at 1:00 PM

The Dana Adobe is proud to present the 2008 series of Summer Talks that begin on July 12 and are every other Saturday until Sept. 26th. All talks begin at 1pm and last for one hour. Children's day is the only exception. All talks are free. The public is invited to bring a lunch to enjoy on the grounds prior to the talk and stay after to enjoy a tour of the house. Drinks and merchandise may be purchased at the talks.
This year's list of topics is varied as well as the speakers, but all have to do with the Dana Adobe in some way. The series will kick off with Children's Day. This will be a special story time that will entertain all family members and then children will have an opportunity I enjoy activities that the Dana children may have enjoyed.

This year two authors, Maury Hoag and Joe Dana, will tell us about their books. Both authors will also sell and sign copies of their books after their talks.

Ms. McTighe will tell us about some of the herbs the Chumash used and will suggest what herbs may have been grown here and why.

Barbara Watson will speak about some of the important and famous personalities that visited the Captain and Maria Josefa at the Dana. These were some of the many who enjoyed the famous Dana hospitality.

Helen Daurio will be the last speaker in the series, but her talk will be of great interest because she will focus upon the lives of women who helped settle Alta California.

July 26 Maury Hoag, author of The Graveyard of the Pacific will speak about ship wrecks of the Pacific.

Aug. 9 Joe Dana, author of To Discourage Me is no easy Matter, will speak about his latest findings about the life of Captain William Goodwin Dana.

Aug. 23 Barbara Watson "Mi Casa es Su Casa; Visitors at the Dana" will highlight some of the famous visitors to the Dana Adobe.

Sept. 13 Samantha McTighe will speak bout the "Herbs of the Chumash"

Sept. 26 Helen Daurio will speak about some of "The Silent Women of Alta California"
