We are so excited to welcome you to Heritage Day 2022 at DANA Adobe and Cultural Center!
Heritage Day is a family event that we host annually to commemorate the founding of Dana Adobe and the importance it plays in the Nipomo community.
When William Goodwin Dana married Maria Josefa and took possession of thousands of acres in the Chumash Foothills in what is now Nipomo, we don’t think he intended his new home to make an impact in Central Coast History. Nevertheless, Captain Dana was what you might call a wave-maker, and the Adobe became a hub for trade, commerce and California Travel in the mid-late 1800’s because of William Goodwin Dana and Maria Josefa’s management and legacy.
It wasn’t easy, building this empire, and Heritage Day commemorates all of the fun and excitement of DANA Adobe as well as the tough stuff. There are many stories of difficulties due to trade logistics, and battles waged that protected the Adobe, the people, the land, and animals within it. Heritage Day is our chance to share all of those stories with you – while eating some really yummy food and listening to great music in a beautiful place!
Heritage Day 2022 will look something like this…
We hope you will join us for this amazing event!
